Wimpy UK has chosen Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales, as its charity partner of the year. The move, announced during Mental Health Awareness Week 2018, will see Wimpy restaurants and staff nationwide focus on a raft of fundraising events over the next 12 months with the goal of raising a minimum of £25,000.
Wimpy franchisees and their staff voted overwhelming for Mind, which was one of four charities shortlisted. It is the first time since the 1980s that the chain has chosen to support a charity on a national basis.
Chris Woolfenden, Wimpy UK general manager, said: “We are honoured to be working with Mind, which plays such an important role in raising awareness of mental health issues and making sure that advice and support is there for those who need it.”
Rebecca Hastings, head of corporate partnerships for Mind, added: “We are delighted Wimpy staff have chosen Mind as their charity of the year. This partnership will help us to reach a point where anyone with a mental health problem feels able to ask for, and access, the help they need. Money raised will help fund our vital work, including our Mind Infoline, information and advice services, and our campaigning to ensure everyone who has a mental health problem gets support and respect.”
