National Burger Awards open for entries!

Operators can now enter next year’s National Burger Awards, which is heading back to London in February 2020 with the addition of a new meat-free round. Entries to the National Burger Awards are now being accepted online, offering chefs the chance to take part in a live cook-off final on 19th February 2020 at the Islington Metal Works in London. The chef of the UK’s best burger, as determined by a panel of industry judges, will receive £1,000 as well as the coveted title.

The 2020 National Burger Awards will also feature a brand new meat-free round, which is being sponsored by The Meatless Farm Company. The 16 chefs that make it through to the final will all compete in this essential new competition category.

“We’re very much looking forward to reading through the best burger recipes that the UK has to offer,” said Tristan O’Hana, editorial director of our sister publication Casual Dining, which organises the event. “What’s more, we can’t wait to see how all of our finalists approach the new meat-free round. Progressive operators know just how important it is to be offering UK consumers a choice when it comes to eating meat or electing not to – we’re delighted that the National Burger Awards is now representing both options within the eating out market.”

The top dog from El Perro Negro in Glasgow was named the best burger in the UK at the National Burger Awards 2019. Entries for 2020’s event are now open and can be submitted at
