Greggs goes bitesize with new shop format

Greggs has launched a smaller-scale shop for its more high-footfall locations

Greggs has opened its first ‘Bitesize Greggs’, a smaller shop format enabling the brand to offer a range iconic products to more customers in high-footfall, prime locations which are constrained by space.

The first ‘Bitesize Greggs’ opened in Sevenoaks Railway Station on Friday 7 November 2025. Open seven days a week, the Sevenoaks shop has created 10 new jobs for the local area.

Operating with a smaller footprint, Bitesize Greggs offers a tailored range of best-selling customer favourites for the same great quality and great prices, from Sausage Rolls and Steak Bakes to Sweet Treats and Fairtrade hot drinks.

Taking a bite out of travel

Greggs will open a small number of ‘Bitesize Greggs’. The more agile shop format will see Greggs enter more prime locations – mostly travel hubs - many of which were previously out of reach due to the size needed for traditional Greggs shop formats.

These ‘Bitesize Greggs’ will be rolled out alongside more traditional, larger Greggs shops in line with the Company’s growth plans and in response to continued strong consumer demand. Greggs is on track to open around 120 net new shops in 2025, averaging around four new shop openings per week.

After Sevenoaks, the next Bitesize Greggs shop will open in December in Dartford Station, Kent and Cheshire Oaks, with additional openings to follow.

Tony Rowson, property director at Greggs commented: “We’re excited to announce the launch of our ‘Bitesize Greggs’ concept. This small but mighty new format will allow us to reach more customers on the go from compact units, whilst still offering a selection of our best-selling products.

“The rollout of ‘Bitesize Greggs’, initially on a trial basis, will support our broader estate growth plans.”
