Moi et Toi Bakery set to open in Notting Hill

MOI ET TOI BAKERY FROM HARNEET BAWEJA AND EDWARD DELLING WILLIAM OPENS IN NOTTING HILL THIS WEEK

Harneet Baweja, the founder of Gunpowder Group and Empire Empire, will launch the bakery Moi et Toi this week, in collaboration with chef and restaurateur Edward Delling Williams, founder of Le Grand Bain in Paris.

Located on All Saints Road in Notting Hill, Moi et Toi will take over the Empire Empire space each morning, transforming it into a bakery that blends classic French patisserie with British flavours.

Available for takeaway and dine-in, the bakery menu will feature an array of sweet treats, including coconut and stewed pineapple buns, peanut butter pain au chocolat, earl grey custard tart and roasted peach and cardamom custard bun.

Savoury options will include a Croque Monsieur croissant, or pastries filled with charred leeks, cacio e pepe, & aged parmesan or camembert, rosemary & fig as well as a daily selection of freshly made focaccia sandwiches filled with the likes of ham and roquette pesto, and mushroom and truffle.

Moi et Toi

Harneet and Edward's friendship dates back to the early 2000s, when they bonded over a shared love for Lisbon and surfing. After a successful collaboration in 2019 at Gunpowder Tower Bridge, the pair have been planning the perfect project to establish a longstanding partnership.

The name Moi et Toi — meaning ‘you and me’ in French — symbolises the partnership between Harneet and Edward, the connection between the Empire Empire restaurant and bakery, and the fusion of culinary influences.

Each morning, locals will know Moi et Toi is open when the neon light above the Empire Empire sign lights up at 7am, signalling its transformation into a neighbourhood bakery. Inside, guests will be greeted by counters filled with freshly baked goods and a station serving Monmouth coffee and house-made chai.

At the back of the bakery, guests can catch a glimpse of the chefs at work in the lamination room. When the light switches off in the afternoon, the space reverts to Harneet's Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded Indian restaurant, Empire Empire.

The opening of Moi et Toi will mark a homecoming for Edward, who gained a cult following in Paris with Le Grand Bain, known for its honest, straightforward cuisine and exceptional wines, along with his bakery, Le Petit Grain. With Edward as executive chef, day-to-day operations will be overseen by head baker Yazdin Pardiwala.

On the launch, Edward shared his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to start collaborating with Harneet on our new bakery project, Moi et Toi. It’s been a long time coming, and it’s already been an exciting journey blending our passions for food and creativity. I can't wait to see what we bake together!”

Harneet adds “Edward and I have been searching for the ideal opportunity to collaborate, and I'm thrilled that we've finally found it with Moi et Toi. The bakery will draw upon Edward's extensive experience in Paris, and we're both excited to bring something truly unique to Notting Hill.”
