lunch!, the definitive event for the café, coffee shop and food-to-go sector (see page 21), returns to the capital. It offers unrivalled access to some of the biggest names and operators in the industry. Among those who have already been announced as speaking at the event are Adam Martin, managing director of Tesco Hospitality; Amanda Lowe, head of innovation for Soho Coffee Shop; and Henry Ayers, co-founder of The Gentlemen Baristas.

The show will once again co-locate with Casual Dining, which is for the restaurant, pub and bar sectors; and Commercial Kitchen, for executive chefs and decision-makers from all types of professional kitchens.

International Coffee Day

International Coffee Day is an occasion that is used to promote and celebrate coffee as a beverage, with events occurring in places around the world. The first official date was 1^st October 2015, as agreed by then International Coffee Organization, and was launched in Milan. It is also used to promote fairtrade coffee and to raise awareness for the plight of the growers. 

On this day, many businesses offer free or discounted cups of coffee. Some businesses share coupons and special deals with their loyal followers via social networking. Some greeting card companies even sell National Coffee Day cards, as well as free e-cards.

The Restaurant Show

The Restaurant Show showcases the best products, services and innovations in the market. Exhibitors at the event cover the whole of the hospitality spectrum, from food and drink through to ingredients, technology and furniture.

Noy only this, but there will be two new zones this year. Chefs’ Ingredients will be dedicated to showcasing, educating and inspiring chefs with the latest ingredients and techniques embracing the industry. Bar and Drinks, meanwhile, will provide a holistic view of beverages in hospitality. The Catering Equipment Expo will also run alongside, helping to champion the outstanding products, people, insights and innovations in the food and drink industry.
