The Big Eat returns this May bank holiday
Hampshire’s free-to-attend street food festival for all is returning from the 25th-27th of May 2024
The Big Eat is returning for the third year in a row after securing headline sponsorship from family owned and award-winning motor group Snows Toyota.
On the 25th, 26th and 27th May 2024, the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, Southampton, will be filled with tasty street food and drinks vendors from across the south in a celebration of local food and talent with all the profits being donated to local food banks.
Last year the event fed a whopping 20,000 foodie fanatics from across the south.
This year, the public gains the power to vote for their favourite food vendors, offering them a shot at winning a prestigious Hampshire Street Food Award. Award categories include 'Fan Favourite', 'Best Vegan Food' and 'Best Burger'.
There will also be a huge range of entertainment lined up for all ages, including live music, a fun fair, face painting, plus a historical re-enactment. What's more, Snows Toyota will be offering complimentary sushi making classes as well as a silent disco over the course of the weekend.
Musicians taking to the main stage include tribute bands like Zed Zeppelin and Brit Pop Revolution, plus local artists such as Smugglers Band and Calum Lintott.
Director of the Big Eat CIC Jeremy Gaskin said: “The Big Eat is more than just a food festival; it's a celebration of our vibrant community. Witnessing people from all walks of life come together, share their love for food, and support local causes truly embodies the spirit of unity and generosity that defines our event. It’s going to be a fantastic weekend - we cannot wait."
