Boxpark Birmingham granted planning permission
The new dining and entertainment venue located in Digbeth, Birmingham is set to open in 2025
BOXPARK has received planning permission approval for its new location in Birmingham.
Located in Digbeth, Birmingham’s vibrant, creative quarter, BOXPARK has signed a 15-year lease in the iconic Floodgate Street Arches.
Scheduled to launch in 2025, the venue is set to become a major hub for culture, dining and events.
Investing around £5 million into the local area, the new opening is expected to create approximately 200 new job opportunities and set to drive increased footfall.
Championing local Birmingham businesses
Famous for its diverse street food offering, independent traders and iconic events, BOXPARK’s new venue aims to champion local Birmingham businesses and talent with fantastic opportunities for both independent and established food operators, as well as artists, creators and performers from the area.
The food hall will sit under four 12m railway arches, spanning nearly 17,000 sq. ft and is set to include around 10 kitchen units and four internal bars set across two floors. The design complements the natural architecture of the arches, utilising vaulted spaces to create an immersive atmosphere for food, drink and entertainment including social gaming, such as shuffleboard and table games. In addition, there will be just over 10,500 sq. ft. of external space to offer al fresco dining and events.
The approval from planning authorities marks a key milestone for the project’s development and the brand’s expansion in the UK. This new scheme will be the first BOXPARK in the Midlands, following the successes of recent openings in other major UK cities including Liverpool, which was the first BOXPARK-branded development outside of London.
Ben McLaughlin, chief operating officer of BOXPARK comments: “We’re thrilled to have received planning approval and are excited to move forward with the opening of our new site in this vibrant city. This will be a big project for the team and our aim is to carefully restore the Floodgate Street Arches while giving it a new lease of life.
“Digbeth's eclectic and creative business community is perfect match for our ethos of supporting and championing local, independent talent. This marks an exciting new chapter for BOXPARK, and we look forward to contributing to the area’s continued growth.”
